Description:
This is an elementary school in the village of Coya. Coya is situated at a 10 minute distance from Pisac. By foot it is reached within half an hour from Pisac. There is a direct bus connection between Cusco and Coya and it takes about an hour. The children who attend school are between the age of 6 and 12 years old and the education level is from first till sixth grade. The children who attend the school are mostly from the rural areas around Pisac, and most of them speak Quechua as a first language.
Activities:
The volunteers can help shaping up the garden, painting the wall that is surrounding the school. The director would like to see educational art on the wall. Furthermore they can teach English and assist the teachers in their daily routine.
Requirements:
- Intermediate level of Spanish
- Enthusiasm for working with children.
Minimum:
The minimum time requested is 4 weeks.
Work Schedule:
Your working hours will be from 9.00 until 12.30 on weekdays.
Spanish:
In order to participate in these programs, you should have at least an intermediate level of the Spanish language. We recommend you to book Spanish classes through us before starting the volunteer project. Please ask us for information.
